Description

Many Samogitians do not imagine Christmas Eve supper without the so-called cracklings (others also call it hemp cracklings). The dish is easy to make and healthy. Only three products are needed for the preparation of the cracklings: hemp and linseed seeds, and salt. Roasted seeds are crushed in a mortar, salted, then the mixture is crushed once again until the dough is made. Then, again, pour everything into the pan and roast until the powder remains, and eat with potatoes.

Dish cooking

Grill the desired amount of hemp seeds in a dry frying pan - not more than 1.5 minutes. Stir them still warm to make a solid mass.

Add pepper, finely chopped onion and salt to taste. Stir well.

Eating manner: to soak hot boiled potatoes in the sauce.
