Beaten cream kastinys is a traditional Samogitian dish made from sour cream, curdled milk and butter with spices. Kastinys is especially valued for its unique taste and distinctness. It is said that the best kastinys is made with an apple spoon. Samogitian flavoured it with caraway seeds, although it also contains garlic and other herbs. Castings can be festive and daily. Daily is made from butter and curdled milk. Festive kastinys is made of sour cream and butter.

You will need

0.5 l - sour cream
1 tbsp. - Butter
1 teaspoon - caraway seeds
- salt
- water

Dish cooking

Keep the creamy sour cream for several hours at room temperature. Place a tablespoon of soft butter in a deep bowl and pour a glass of sour cream.

Insert the bowl into another bowl with warm water and mix the contents with a wooden spoon. Whilst the butter has not extracted the butter-milk yet, add a spoonful of sour cream and stir until all is consumed.

When it begins to thicken, add salt, caraway seeds and mix well.

Served with hot cooked potatoes.
